What happens to a goldfish if they lay eggs and their is no male in the tank?

Here's why:

* Goldfish eggs need to be fertilized by a male. The eggs themselves will not develop into baby goldfish without sperm from a male.

* Goldfish eggs are sticky and will sink to the bottom of the tank. Even if they were fertilized, without proper care, they are likely to be eaten by the parents or other tankmates.

So, even if a female goldfish lays eggs, without a male in the tank, the eggs will simply be infertile and will not develop.
