How big was the megaldon shark?

Megalodon was likely one of the largest fish that ever lived.

It is estimated that the average length of a Megalodon was over 15 metres (49 ft), and some individuals may have reached a length of up to 18 metres (59 ft).

For comparison, the largest extant fish, the whale shark, can reach a length of up to 12 meters (39 ft).

Megalodon is also thought to have had a bite force of up to 180,000 newtons, much greater than the bite force of any modern shark.
