How much does a bowhead whale weigh?

Bowhead whales (Balaena mysticetus) are one of the largest species of whales. Adult bowhead whales typically weigh between 40 to 75 tons (36 to 68 metric tons) and measure around 49 to 65 feet (15 to 20 meters) long. Males (bulls) tend to be slightly larger than females (cows). The maximum recorded weight for a bowhead whale is 200,000 pounds (91 metric tons). Bowhead whales can live for more than 200 years, making them one of the longest-lived whale species as well.
