How to Feed Banggai Cardinals

The Banggai cardinal is a breed of saltwater fish otherwise known as the Kaudern's cardinal, banner cardinal and high-finned cardinal. The fish is long and slender with a silver body, white spots and distinct black markings. The fish garners its name from the Banggai islands of Indonesia, where it was first discovered swimming in large schools. Proper care and feeding of the Banggai cardinalfish will ensure that the animal thrives inside your home's aquarium.

Instructions

    • 1

Provide the Banggai cardinal a diet of fresh or frozen food, such as small brine shrimp or finely cut fish or other seafood. Thaw the frozen seafood completely before offering it to the fish.

    • 2

Feed the Banggai cardinal two to three times a day, once again alternating flake food and fresh or frozen seafood.

    • 3

Continue to provide this source of meat to the carnivorous fish for one to two weeks. Once this occurs, offer the Banggai cardinal some protein-enriched flake fish food.

    • 4

Watch the fish. If it accepts the flake fish food, continue to offer it in conjunction with the fresh or frozen seafood. If not, continue to feed the fish a strictly meat diet for an additional week.

    • 5

Continue to attempt to feed the Banggai cardinal flake food until it accepts it.
