Things You'll Need
- Sump pump
- Aquarium
- Return line
- Ball valve
- PVC glue
- Tap water
Instructions
Set the sump pump on a level surface near the saltwater fish tank. Fill the pump and aquarium with tap water and allow it to sit for a few minutes so you can make sure there are no leaks.
Plumb a return line from the ̶0;Return Pump̶1; in the pump and run it back up to the aquarium. Install a ball valve at the bottom of the return line so the flow of the pump is controlled. To install the ball valve, use PVC glue so there are no leaks. Allow the glue time to dry before you check for leaks.
Fill the ̶0;Return Pump̶1; compartment in your sump pump with tap water and turn it on, checking for any leaks. The water should circulate from the aquarium, down into the pump and back into the aquarium. The return pipe should sit just above the water level.
