How is salted fish an example of Osmosis?
Salted fish is an example of reverse osmosis. In osmosis, water passes from an area of low salt concentration to an area of high salt concentration through a semipermeable membrane. In the case of salted fish, the fish is placed in a salt solution, which has a higher salt concentration than the fish. This causes the water inside the fish to pass out through the fish's semipermeable cell membranes into the salt solution, thus preserving the fish.
