What salinity levels can cherry barbs tolerate?
Cherry barbs (Puntius titteya) are freshwater fish and cannot tolerate salinity. The ideal water parameters for cherry barbs include a pH between 6.0 and 7.0, a water hardness between 5 and 15 dGH, and a temperature between 72 and 82°F (22-28°C). Water salinity should be 0 ppt (parts per thousand), which is the same as pure freshwater. Cherry barbs cannot survive in brackish or saltwater environments.
