What do Amazon Molly fish eat in the wild?

Amazon Molly fish, scientifically known as *Poecilia formosa*, are actually not found in the wild. They are an all-female species that arose from a natural hybridization event between two other species of molly, the Sailfin Molly (*Poecilia latipinna*) and the Atlantic Molly (*Poecilia mexicana*).

Since they are not found in the wild, there's no natural diet to describe. However, we can look at the diets of their parent species to get an idea:

* Sailfin Molly: These fish are omnivores and typically eat algae, insects, and other small invertebrates in their natural habitat.

* Atlantic Molly: Similar to Sailfin Mollies, these fish are also omnivores and consume a variety of algae, insects, and other small aquatic organisms.

In captivity, Amazon Mollies thrive on a diet of commercial flake food, algae wafers, and live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. It's important to provide a varied diet to ensure they get all the necessary nutrients.
