What is the pilot whales population?

There are an estimated 200,000 pilot whales worldwide, with the majority living in the North Atlantic and North Pacific Oceans. Pilot whales are highly social animals and live in pods of up to 100 individuals, although some pods can be much larger. They are apex predators and feed on a variety of fish, squid, and octopus. Pilot whales are considered to be endangered in some areas due to overfishing, pollution, and climate change.
