The red snapper is best known for its size. One of the largest caught weighed more than 50 lbs. Anglers can find red snapper off the ends of piers and bridges, and also offshore.
Yellowtail Snapper

This snapper is known for its yellow tail, hence the name. Yellowtail snapper can be found off the coast of Florida in up to 300 feet of water. This type of snapper does not get as large as its red cousin, but it is just as tasty. The yellowtail snapper survives mainly on a diet of shrimp.

You can find mangrove snapper in inland waterways around mangrove trees, and pretty much anywhere saltwater is found. They grow to a weight of 17 lbs. and don't require much more than a light tackle to catch.
