What types of meat did Sumerians eat?

Sumerians kept large herds of goats. Sheep provided them with wool as well as meat. Fish from local waterways may have provided the inhabitants of the cities that bordered them the bulk of their meat, supplemented by animals kept specifically for meat. These included goats and a large breed of ox known as aurochs. There's no direct Sumerian word indicating pig-keeping although some scholars infer a possible early introduction on the fringes of Sumer. Beef was consumed on feast days.
