What type of fish do sea otters eat?
Sea otters are marine mammals that primarily feed on a variety of marine invertebrates, such as sea urchins, clams, mussels, and snails. Although they do consume fish, such as small schooling fish and occasionally larger fish like halibut and salmon, fish do not make up a significant portion of their diet. Sea otters are highly skilled predators and often use tools, such as rocks, to break open the shells of their prey. They typically forage in shallow coastal waters and kelp forests.
