Do all fish have fins and tails?

Yes, almost all fish species possess fins and tails as they play crucial roles in their movement, stability, and maneuvering underwater. Fins contribute to propulsion, buoyancy control, steering, and maneuverability, while the tail aids in locomotion.

There are a handful of exceptions, however. One example is a small eel-like fish called the hagfish, which does not possess any traditional fins or a distinct tailfin.
