What kind of fish is amberjack?

Amberjack is a common name applied to a number of species of marine fish in the family Carangidae, the jacks. Amberjacks are found in tropical and subtropical waters around the world.

The greater amberjack (Seriola dumerili) is the largest species of amberjack, growing to a maximum length of about 190 cm (75 in) long and a weight of 100 kg (220 lbs). Greater amberjacks have a blue-green back, yellow-amber sides and a white belly. They have a long, strong dorsal fin with 8 spines and 19-21 soft rays, and an anal fin with 2 spines and 17-19 soft rays.

Amberjacks are predators that feed on a variety of fish, squid, and crustaceans. They are often found near reefs, wrecks and other underwater structures. Amberjacks are popular sport fish and are also used in commercial fisheries.
