Greater amberjacks have a blue-green back, yellow-amber sides and a white belly. They have a long, strong dorsal fin with 8 spines and 19-21 soft rays, and an anal fin with 2 spines and 17-19 soft rays.
Amberjacks are predators that feed on a variety of fish, squid, and crustaceans. They are often found near reefs, wrecks and other underwater structures. Amberjacks are popular sport fish and are also used in commercial fisheries.
