How many Tapirs are left in this world?

According to the World Wildlife Fund, there are approximately 150,000 tapirs left in the wild. The Brazilian tapir being the most populous at around 120,000 individuals, then the lowland tapir at 10,000, followed by the mountain tapir at 2,500, and the Central American tapir at 8,500. Habitat loss, hunting, and illegal trade are the main reasons for their population decline.
