While some chimps have been taught to use sign language or symbols to communicate, none have demonstrated the ability to form complex written language.
The most famous examples of chimps learning communication include:
* Washoe: Taught sign language, she could use over 100 signs but her grammar was often inconsistent.
* Nim Chimpsky: Learned sign language, but his vocabulary and grammatical skills were heavily debated.
* Kanzi: Learned to communicate using lexigrams (symbols representing words), but his understanding of grammar is still a topic of research.
While these chimps are incredible examples of animal intelligence and communication, they haven't learned to write in the way humans do.
