Where do chiuauas come from?

Chihuahuas are named after the Mexican state of Chihuahua, where they originated.

While their exact origins are debated, it's generally believed that they descend from the Techichi, a small, hairless dog breed native to ancient Mexico.

The Techichi was kept as a companion animal by the Toltec and Aztec civilizations, and their descendants were later selectively bred to create the modern Chihuahua.
