  1. How to Catch Night Crawlers

    • 1

Identify a patch of dirt that you can dig up. Come at noon and spray the area thoroughly with your water hose until it becomes wet mud. By doing this, you will attract worms to your location because of the wet and humid soil. That is why earthworms are more attracted to gardens. You can often see the direct result of this is by worms drowning in ponds or lakes because they were drawn to the large amount of water.

At about 5 p.m., dig up the muddy area you have soaked with your water hose and sift through the mud to find the worms. When digging, be sure not to dig so fast that you cut through the worms. Rather, sift through the mud carefully to find the earthworms you are searching for. To fully set the trap and bring your worms to the surface, you can stick your wooden rake firmly into the mud with the blade facing up. Pull back on the rake blade and let it vibrate after you let it go. Doing this will send vibrations throughout the ground and will send the worms crawling to the surface due to their sensitive exterior.
