How to Play With a Pet Rock

All pets need daily exercise, including a middle-aged pet rock. Take the gray pet rock named Stony from his 1970s box, dust him off and play a few games together. The original pet rock from Baja, Mexico, can sit, stay and roll over, but it still hasn't mastered the jump command.

      Take the pet rock for a walk or a hike. Use a leash made out of string, yarn or a leather shoelace.

      Place the rock in a pocket or backpack and head for the hills. Pet rocks love to roll down hills as fast as they can.

      Call your friends and play catch with your pet rock. The object of the game is not to let the pet rock fall. Set a standard. Each player is eliminated once he or she drops the rock three times. The winner is the last player standing.
