What is a kiwi body covering?
A kiwi's body covering is composed of feathers, much like a bird. However, kiwi feathers are unique and highly specialized. Unlike the feathers of most other birds, which feature a fan-like structure with interlocking barbules, kiwi feathers are more hair-like. They lack barbules and have a loose, shaggy appearance, making them resemble fur. This adaptation provides excellent insulation, allowing kiwis to survive in their cool and damp forest environments.
