Benito Mussolini (29 July 1883 – 28 April 1945) was an Italian politician and the leader of the National Fascist Party (Partito Nazionale Fascista; PNF). He served as the Prime Minister of Italy from 1922 to 1943 and Leader of the Italian Social Republic (Repubblica Sociale Italiana; RSI) from 1943 until his death in 1945. He is commonly referred to as "Il Duce" ("The Leader").

Mussolini was a leading figure in the development of Fascism. His regime established a dictatorship, suppressed political and civil liberties, and promoted nationalism, militarism, and traditionalist social values.
