What is ampitrexyl?

Ampitrexyl is the former generic name of a stimulant drug originally developed in Germany that contains a mixture of 5 mg dexamphetamine, 400 mg phenacetin, and 40 mg caffeine that was sold as a painkiller (trade name in many countries: Dolaren). Today this medication contains paracetamol instead of phenacetin, and in some countries the name Ampitrexyl was changed to Dolex or similar.
