What is a snatchsquatch?

A snatchsquatch is a fictional cryptid or yeti of the Siskiyou Mountains and Cascades of California and Oregon. The name can be an alliterative echo of "sasquatch", or more likely a reference to the alleged snatching of human infants by snatchsquatches. The creature is not to be confused with the Appalachian creature of the same name.

The snatchsquatch is described as a very tall, dark, muscular creature covered with long bushy black or reddish-brown hair. Some believe they are nocturnal and avoid humans. Others believe they are dangerous monsters who would attack, kill and eat humans.
