Who attacks a platypus?
The primary predators of the platypus are large aquatic predators, such as freshwater crocodiles, goannas (large Australian lizards), water rats, snakes, and powerful owls. Additionally, foxes, dingoes, and cats occasionally prey upon platypuses, particularly in areas where they have been introduced or where their populations are not as abundant. In regions with a higher concentration of platypus populations, such as the eastern coast of Australia, goannas, freshwater crocodiles, and large snakes pose the greatest threat to the survival of these remarkable semi-aquatic mammals.
