Here's why:
* They lack the physical adaptations for climbing: Unlike other frogs, African dwarf frogs have smooth skin and lack the suction cups or adhesive pads on their toes that would help them climb.
* They are not naturally arboreal: Their natural habitat is in the shallows of bodies of water where they feed on invertebrates at the bottom.
While you might see them briefly resting on a rock or plant, they won't be climbing in the same way as tree frogs or other climbing species.
