How to Make a Toad Cage

Toads are amphibious creatures that make great pets for children and can be kept for months at a time. Toads need to have a variety of specific needs met if they are to have a comfortable habitat. Creating such a habitat requires only a few simple materials.

Things You'll Need

  • 15 gallon glass aquarium
  • Small rocks
  • Driftwood
  • Small plants (live or fake)
  • Small plastic bowl
  • Water
  • Mesh cover
  • Live crickets

Instructions

    • 1

      Fill a large glass aquarium with a layer roughly 1 inch deep of small rocks or pebbles.

      Place plants, driftwood or larger rocks on top of the layer of pebbles so the toad has places to hide and sleep.

      Fill a small bowl with water. Place the bowl inside the aquarium.

      Place a fitted mesh cover on top of the aquarium so the toad is not able to escape.

      Feed the toad live crickets every other day. Be sure to remove dead crickets from the cage. Also be sure to refill the drinking bowl with water as needed.
