How to Clean a Grow-a-Frog Aquarium

Grow-a-Frog lets you watch the life cycle of a frog. You are able to watch it grow from a tadpole to a froglet to a full grown frog. Each kit comes with an aquarium that needs to be cleaned weekly. The only cleaning involved includes refreshing the water once a week. A weekly changing not only improves the aquarium's water quality, but the overall health of the frog.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a large bowl with cold tap water. Let it sit on the counter for at least one hour to reach room temperature. Luke-warm water can be lethal to frogs.

    • 2

Test the temperature of the water with a thermometer. The ideal temperature needs to be between 68 and 72 degrees Fahrenheit.

    • 3

Add a few water crystals to the tap water for purification purposes. You can order water crystals from the Grow-a-Frog company online.

    • 4

Crack the aquarium's lid so you can access the water and your frog. If you have a Stage Two Habitat tank, remove the lid from the tank and replace it with the EZ Clean lid that came with the tank.

    • 5

Dunk a clean plastic cup or small pail into the aquarium and scoop up some water and the frog. Grow-a-Frogs need to be in water all of the time. Don't scoop the frog out with a net as it may get away or die as a result of being out of water.

    • 6

Pour out 90 percent of the water in the tank. This will help eliminate the dirty water in the tank.

    • 7

Fill the tank up with clean water. There should be a 4-inch clearance from the top.

    • 8

Lower the cup holding the frog back into the tank and release the frog back into the aquarium.
