How to Create a Frog Habitat

If you are planning on keeping any type of frog as a pet, you will want to create an appropriate habitat for it to live in. Frogs will need both land and water, and also require room to grow and roam. You will want to provide shelter for the frog to hide in also. Building your own frog habitat is fairly easy and can be done without a lot of expense or time.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose an aquarium that is large enough for your frog to have plenty of room. Most frogs will require at least a 20 gallon tank.

    • 2

Split the tank in half so that there is an area for land and an area for water. This can be done by using a piece of glass or by using rocks as a barricade.

    • 3

Fill the land side of the tank with soil or sand. Soil is preferable in order to grow plants for your habitat. Use a soil that is natural and does not have any added fertilizer or other chemicals.

    • 4

Place a thin layer of gravel on the water side of the tank. Be sure to rinse the gravel well to remove any dirt or dust before putting it in the tank.

    • 5

Fill the tank with water up to the top of the barricade. Use water that does not contain chlorine or other chemicals.

    • 6

Place plants in the soil. Use as many or as few as you want. Rocks will also provide a resting place for your frog and look nice in the tank.
