Instructions

    • 1

Get an aquarium that is large enough to allow your frog plenty of room to move around. A good size is 10 gallons of water for each frog you own. Choose a tank that is long across the bottom rather than a tall tank. These frogs primarily stay on the bottom of the tank, and need more room to move.

Keep the bottom of the tank free of small aquarium rocks. Use large rocks and glue plants to them so the plants will not float to the top. The albino African clawed frog might eat small rocks and aquarium sand, so do not use them. Give the frogs lots of hiding places inside the tank with pieces of driftwood.

Keep the water clean by checking the water filter often. Polluted water will cause health issues for the frog. Maintain the water at a warm 23 degrees Celsius. Choose a filter that does not disturb the water very much, as albino African clawed frogs prefer quiet water.

Feed young frogs every day, and feed adult frogs every two to three days. Albino African clawed frogs eat pellet food, brine shrimp, earthworms, bloodworms, crickets or live guppies. You can simply toss the food into the tank and the frog will find it quickly. You can also hand-feed larger, adult frogs by allowing them to come to the surface of the water.
