How to Remove Bufo Toads

Toads allegedly give humans warts, but they can do more damage to humans. Toads of the bufo species excrete poison from their skin and can pose a serious threat to children and pets. Therefore, removing them from your property is important. Bufo toads are brown to grayish brown with a yellow belly, and they are 2 to 9 inches long. They are generally located in the southern regions of America, from Texas to Florida. Their poison is only dangerous when ingested or makes contact with your skin or eyes, and, although the poison is not lethal to adults, contact with a pet or child can be lethal, depending on the size of the child or pet.

Instructions

    • 1

Keep an eye out for the bufo toad. You are most likely to find them during the spring after it rains because they are looking for mates.

    • 2

Wear protective gloves, goggles, mask and clothing. The toad's poison irritates skin and eyes when contacted.

    • 3

Squeeze a 1-inch line of benzocaine ointment on the neck and back of the toad.

    • 4

Let the toad absorb the ointment through its skin for 20 minutes. The toad will be temporarily paralyzed.

    • 5

Pick up the frog and put it in a plastic bag. Seal the bag and place it in the freezer for three days. The toad is not conscious and does not feel pain.

    • 6

Remove the bag from the freezer and discard the bag in the garbage can.
