Instructions
Creating a Tree Frog Terrarium
Line the bottom of a clear glass aquarium with a non-toxic, all-natural substrate. Use coconut bark, artificial grass or reptile carpeting.
Create a woodsy environment by adding long sticks or branches, driftwood and rocks. Place sticks close together and at angles so the tree frog has ample opportunity to climb.
Add artificial and/or real plants. Artificial vines offer a climbing opportunity for a tree frog.
Place a heavy, shallow water bowl designed for terrariums in the bottom center of the aquarium. Fill the bowl with 1 to 2 inches of non-chlorinated water that can be used for bathing and drinking.
Put a bottom-mount heater under one end of the aquarium terrarium. Cover the area directly over the heater with a rock for a tree frog to use for basking.
Maintaining a Tree Frog Habitat
Feed your tree frog small insects daily. Good choices include small crickets. Also feed it meal worms.
Change the water bowl's water daily to prevent bacteria buildup. Wash the entire terrarium once each week with water. Avoid using detergent.
Mist the tree frog and the inside of the terrarium daily with non-chlorinated water to maintain a moist environment and a humidity level between 60 and 90 percent, depending of the type of tree frog.
