How big is a fire bellied toad?
The fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina) is a small amphibian found in Europe and Asia. Adults typically grow to be about 3–5 cm (1.2–2.0 in) in length, with females generally being slightly larger than males. The toad has a distinctive orange or red belly and black or dark olive green skin, which helps it to camouflage itself in its natural environment. Fire-bellied toads also have a pair of parotoid glands on the back of their heads, which secrete a toxic substance as a defence against predators.
