Can leopard geckos walk on walls?

Leopard geckos can't walk on walls like some other lizards. They lack the adhesive toepads or specialized scales that geckos like the Tokay gecko use to climb smooth surfaces.

Here's why:

* No adhesive pads: Leopard geckos have smooth scales on their feet, not the specialized adhesive pads found on geckos that climb walls.

* Not strong enough for climbing: While they can climb on rough surfaces like rocks and branches, they don't have the strength or grip necessary to climb smooth walls.

* They prefer the ground: Leopard geckos are primarily ground-dwelling creatures and spend most of their time foraging and exploring their enclosures on the floor.

However, they are very good at climbing on branches, rocks, and other textured surfaces within their enclosures. So, if you want to provide them with climbing opportunities, choose materials that are rough enough for them to grip onto.
