Instructions
Feed your omnivorous geckos fruits, such as papaya, mango, apricot, pear, apple and banana. Wash the fresh fruits and either cut into small pieces or puree them. Buy fruit baby food and feed that to your gecko. Remove all uneaten fruits and baby food from the enclosure in good time to prevent them from going bad.
Place live plants, such as snake plants, orchids, pothos, bromeliads and peat moss into the enclosure. Besides feeding your gecko plant-based foods, geckos also like plants on their habitat. Tall plants provide a place to climb and hide, while smaller plants form the bottom of the enclosure and an excellent burying surface for your gecko.
Add vertical and horizontal tree limbs, such as bamboo, into the enclosure to provide your gecko a habitat for climbing and basking. Use tree limbs that are sturdy and wide enough to support your gecko.
What Kind of Plants Do Geckos Like?
Most geckos like plants in their diet as well as on their surroundings. Geckos can be divided into two categories when it comes to their diet. Omnivorous geckos eat both insects and fruits and include species such as the crested, day and gargoyle geckos. Insectivores eat only insects and include species such as leopard, fat-tailed and Tokay gecko. The care for gecko varies slightly between the different species; always follow guidelines, such as which plants to include to your geckos diet or habitat, specifically created for your gecko.
