How long do kinkajous live?

Kinkajous have an average lifespan of 20 to 25 years in the wild, while those kept in captivity may live for up to 30-40 years. In captivity, kinkajous can live longer than in the wild due to better nutrition, veterinary care, and protection from predators.

Additionally, the type of kinkajou species also affects its lifespan. Brown-eared kinkajous (Potos flavus) tend to live longer than Northern and Southern kinkajous (Potos flavus incompositus and Potos flavus megalotus, respectively).
