Do female gerbils try to mate with each other?

Female gerbils do not try to mate with each other. They are not attracted to other females sexually.

Gerbils, like most mammals, have a heterosexual reproductive system. Females are only attracted to males for the purpose of reproduction.

If you see two female gerbils exhibiting behavior that seems like mating, it's likely just playful or territorial behavior. Gerbils can have complex social interactions, and sometimes their play or dominance displays can be mistaken for mating.
