How much water should you give your gerbil in a bath?

Gerbils should never be given baths in water. They are desert animals and are extremely prone to getting sick from water exposure.

Here's why bathing a gerbil in water is a bad idea:

* They can easily get hypothermia: Their small size and thin fur make them very susceptible to the cold.

* They can drown: Even if you're careful, they can panic and get submerged in water.

* Their fur can become matted: Water can make their fur clump together, making it difficult for them to stay warm and clean.

Instead of bathing them in water:

* Use a dust bath: This is the best way to keep your gerbil clean and healthy. You can purchase a special dust bath for small animals at pet stores, or simply use plain, unscented play sand.

* Provide a clean cage: Keep their bedding fresh and change it regularly. This will help to prevent them from getting dirty.

* Offer a water bottle: Make sure they have fresh water available at all times.

Always consult with a veterinarian if you have any concerns about your gerbil's health or care.
