When a plant germinates what does it grow?

When a plant germinates it will initially sprout a single structure known as the radicle, which develops into the primary root of the plant. This primary root anchors the plant in the ground and absorbs water and nutrients from the soil. After the primary root is established, the plant then produces a plumule, which is a small shoot that grows upward from the seed. The plumule eventually develops into the stem, leaves, flowers, and fruits of the plant.
