Tree kangaroos are mammals belonging to the Macropodidae family, which also includes wallabies and kangaroos. The family is native to Australia. Tree kangaroos live on or around the ground during the day but climb and sleep in trees at night. There are six living tree kangaroo species: four in New Guinea and two in Queensland, Australia. However their ancestral lineage was likely based along the northern coastline or islands adjacent to Austrulia.
