I bought what i thought were 2 female gerbils but now they have started mating should do?

If you have two male gerbils:

* Separate them immediately to avoid further mating and potential aggression.

* Consider rehoming one of the gerbils to a suitable home where they can live with other gerbils of the same sex.

* Alternatively, you can keep both gerbils but you will need to provide them with separate enclosures to ensure their safety and well-being.

If you have one male and one female gerbil:

* Consider spaying the female gerbil to prevent further pregnancies.

* If you do not wish to spay her, you will need to separate the gerbils to avoid further mating.

* You can also consider rehoming the female gerbil to a suitable home where she can live with other gerbils of the same sex.

Additional considerations:

* Introducing a new gerbil into an existing group can be stressful for all the gerbils involved, so it is important to do this slowly and carefully.

* Gerbils are social animals and thrive in groups, so it is important to provide them with suitable companions of the same sex.

* If you have any questions or concerns about housing and caring for gerbils, it is a good idea to consult with a veterinarian or a reputable breeder.
