What is zeoxantin?

Zeaxanthin is a naturally occurring carotenoid found in many plants and foods, such as corn, saffron, goji berries, and eggs. It is a member of the xanthophyll family, which are a group of yellow pigments found in plants. Zeaxanthin is an important antioxidant that helps protect cells from damage caused by free radicals and is also essential for eye health, particularly for protecting the retina from the harmful effects of ultraviolet (UV) light. It is also thought to play a role in cognitive function and may help to reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
