What is a mussasaurus?
A mussasaurus is a type of mosasaur, a large, extinct marine reptile that lived during the Late Cretaceous period. Mussasaurus haasti was a giant species of mosasaur that could reach lengths of over 43 feet (13 meters). It had a long, slender body with a powerful tail and short, paddle-like flippers. Its jaws were lined with sharp, conical teeth, and it is believed that Mussasaurus haasti was a carnivorous predator. Fossils of Mussasaurus have been found in New Zealand, where it was likely the apex predator in the local ecosystem.
