What do you if a guinea nail gets cut?

1. Stop The Bleeding

- Apply pressure to the nail bed with a clean cloth or cotton swab.

- Hold the pressure for several minutes until the bleeding stops.

- If the bleeding does not stop, take your guinea pig to the vet immediately.

2. Clean The Wound

- Gently clean the wound with warm water and a mild soap.

- Be sure to remove any dirt or debris.

- Pat the wound dry with a clean cloth or cotton swab.

3. Apply An Antibiotic Ointment

- Apply a thin layer of antibiotic ointment to the wound.

- This will help to prevent infection.

4. Bandage The Wound

- Wrap the wound loosely with a bandage.

- This will help to keep the wound clean and protected.

5. Monitor Your Guinea Pig

- Keep an eye on your guinea pig for signs of infection, such as:

- Redness

- Swelling

- Pus

- Fever

- If you notice any signs of infection, take your guinea pig to the vet immediately.

6. Trim Your Guinea Pig's Nails Regularly

- To prevent future injuries, trim your guinea pigs' nails regularly.

- You can do this yourself using a small animal nail clipper.

- Be sure to only cut the white part of the nail, as the pink part contains blood vessels and nerves.
