Guinea pigs are fragile animals and can easily be injured. Because of this, we recommend that you only introduce your guinea pig to young children under close supervision. Teach kids how to approach the guinea pig in a calm, gentle manner, explaining to them that even accidentally dropping the guinea pig could result in serious injury or death.
Remember, young children don’t always understand how to interact with animals appropriately, so it’s important that an adult oversees these interactions.
