- Vinegar
- Water

- Towel
- Baking soda
- Shredded newspaper, grass hay or hardwood shavings
Instructions
Remove your guinea pig from its enclosure, and place it somewhere secure where it cannot escape.
Sweep bedding and leftover food into a dustpan using a handheld broom. Dispose of the waste immediately.
Scrub the bottom of the enclosure well with a solution of one part vinegar and three parts water, and dry it thoroughly with a clean towel.
Dust the bottom of the enclosure with a small amount of baking soda to absorb any odors that might sink through the bedding.
Line the bottom of the guinea pig enclosure with a safe bedding like shredded newspaper, grass hay or hardwood shavings. Avoid cedar or pine shavings as these are potentially toxic to guinea pigs.
Repeat the entire procedure at least once a week as needed to ensure that no odor or waste builds up in your guinea pig's cage.
