Will male gerbils fight each other in the same cage?

Male gerbils can live happily together with no conflicts and become lifelong "brothers." However, some male gerbils can be highly territorial. In cases where gerbils fight, separating them as quickly as possible is important; otherwise, one may hurt or even kill the other.

Some signs and symptoms to help detect any signs of gerbil bullying are:

- One gerbil seems distressed (constantly hiding and jumpy to any little noise).

- There are visible bite or fur pulling wounds.

- One is being denied food due to the bullying tactics of the other, leading to visible weight loss.
