In their natural habitat, hamsters are active. To properly care for your pet hamster, make sure it gets plenty of exercise. Cage wheels work well, but getting your hamster out of its cage should also be a priority. Exercise balls can help give your hamster the workout it needs without the exposure to possible dangers of wires and small places. Most hamsters will take to their balls with little effort, while others may need some coaxing to overcome nervousness.
