How to Find a Hamster in Your Garage

A garage is no place for a roaming hamster. If your hamster has gotten loose and is running free in your garage, ensure that you find it as soon as possible. If you are struggling to locate your pet, remember that hamsters are nocturnal animals. Because of this, your the hamster will look for a crevice to sleep in during the day, whereas at night it is more likely to be tempted out from its hiding place and venture out when it is at its most active.

      Search the garage thoroughly and remove any hazardous materials from the floor of the garage to prevent the hamster from getting to them. This includes any form of chemical, electrical appliances and instruments with sharp edges.

      Place a 12-inch deep cooking pan on the floor of the garage and position a pile of magazines next to it to act as a staircase for the hamster. Place small pieces of food along the makeshift staircase and place a substantial amount of food inside the pan to tempt the hamster into it. Use food with a pungent scent, such as scrambled eggs or cooked vegetables.

      Check the pan regularly to see if the hamster is inside. When you do find the hamster, provide it with water immediately as it will probably be dehydrated.
