Instructions

    • 1

Prepare your new hamster's cage by ensuring the water bottle is full of fresh water and that there is an adequate amount of food available. Line the bottom of the cage with a natural bedding material. Place an exercise wheel in the cage as well as a number of hamster-approved chew toys.

    • 2

Position the cage in an area that is not exposed to drafts or direct sunlight.

    • 3

Take an animal carrier with you to the store when you purchase your new pet.

    • 4

Place a few leafy green vegetables into the animal carrier before you place the hamster in it. The vegetables will provide a source of food and water.

    • 5

Take your hamster home immediately to ensure it is not confined in the small carrier for an extended period of time.

    • 6

Place your pet into the cage immediately upon arriving home.

    • 7

Leave your hamster in its new cage for a minimum of 48 hours before you attempt to handle it.
