      Monitor your hamster for any obvious signs of fleas. Itching and scratching are clear giveaways that your hamster could be dealing with a flea problem.

      Part the hamsters fur with your fingers or a comb and look to see if you can see any fleas present. Even if you do not notice any immediately it does not mean that they aren't that at all.

      Grab a magnifying glass and take a closer look at the hamster's skin. Tiny black spots are a dead giveaway that fleas are bothering your hamster. Black spots are flea bites and they are often easier to spot than the fleas themselves.

      Give the hamster a bath and comb out its fur. Water will help flush any fleas out and you may be able to spot them.
